Hawaii PCS? Here’s What You Need to Know About Moving Your Pets

PCS to Hawaii: Bringing Your Pets Along

Find a Home (Apr 24th, 2025)

Got PCS orders to Hawaii? Aloha! The islands are calling, but before you hit the beach, let’s talk about moving your pets. Hawaii has strict animal quarantine laws, and the process can feel overwhelming—but don’t worry! With some prep, your pets can make the journey safely.

Step 1: Understand Hawaii’s Quarantine Laws

Hawaii is rabies-free, and they’re serious about keeping it that way. Your pets will need:

Find a Home (Apr 24th, 2025)
  • A rabies vaccination (at least twice, with the last one 30 days before arrival).
  • A passing rabies titer test.
  • Microchipping.
  •

Step 2: Prep for Travel

Book flights early! Airlines have limited spots for pets. Make sure your pet has a comfy, airline-approved carrier.

Pro tip: Direct flights are less stressful for pets.

Step 3: Consider the Quarantine Process

There are three options for pet quarantine in Hawaii:

Find a Home (Apr 24th, 2025)
  1. Direct Airport Release (DAR): The ideal option, but it requires planning and paperwork.
  2. 5-Day or Less Program: Shorter quarantine for pets with incomplete requirements.
  3. Full 120-Day Quarantine: For pets without proper vaccinations or titer tests.

Step 4: Keep Your Pet Comfortable

Hawaii’s warm climate can be tough for some pets. Bring water, food, and their favorite toy for the journey.

PCS moves are stressful enough.

With a little planning, you’ll be enjoying paradise with your furry family members in no time. 🐾🌴
